Our first of two projects on East Boston’s Border Street began as a study in space planning efficiency with a site area just upward of 1,300 SF.
As Border Street transitions away from industrial use to a revitalized waterfront residential and commercial corridor, the design provided 8 contemporary condominium units featuring oversize picture windows, private roof decks, custom built-ins for maximum floor area, and a bright, contemporary, and geometric selection of interior finishes against a palette of warm wood flooring and handrails – a nod to the neighborhoods storied history of boat yards and ship building. The design is contextual with the more modern language being expressed on this edge of the neighborhood, and features concrete panel exterior cladding, metal shingle and glazed railing at the penthouse and roof deck level, and spare but deliberate use of color.
