Located in the Elm Hill neighborhood of Roxbury, 250 Seaver Street is an Historic, colonial revival style single-family residence, converted to a 16-unit SRO lodging house for men transitioning out of homelessness.
The restoration scope of work includes preserving the original parlors, architectural woodwork paneling and mouldings, coffered ceilings, stained glass windows, and stair banisters, among other gracious features. Adding generously sized garden level units allowed for the developer to retain the historic configuration of larger-sized rooms on the upper levels, preserving the stately nature of original barrel and coffer ceilings. Adapting to the needs of the residents, multi-fixture bathrooms, laundry room, and expanded kitchen and pantry were added. Larger circulation areas that are the result of the restrictions on interior reconfiguration are organized to allow for pocket lounge areas.
