In multiple phases of occupied rehab, Joy Squared Design lead Pine Street Inn through a renovation and redesign of their entry lobby, as well as a redesign and replacement of the window system through the four-story masonry building.
Joy Street Design created a new entry and lobby for Yawkey House so guests could be welcomed to a well-lit, beautiful and dignified space, much like a hotel lobby. Serving over 115 guests each night, the lobby is a busy space with many functions. The new design includes a streamlined security process, a redesigned reception desk, wayfinding, meeting and waiting areas. Guests can meet with staff who can help to connect them to resources beyond emergency shelter.
Joy Street Design also designed a new window system for the oversized openings at this classic masonry building. The new windows have a fresh contemporary pattern made up of several fixed and operable components and have significantly improved the energy efficiency and daylighting of the building envelope.
