When I’m not designing architecture, you can find me…
out in nature (sailing, hiking, gardening), reading books, solving puzzles, stargazing, singing, or hanging out in Eastie.

What gives you joy?
My daughter, who is an amazing human being – or as she might put it, “an amazing speck of stardust.” Also sailing, gardening, singing, nature (see previous question!)

The last good book I read:
“An Immense World” by Ed Yong. I can’t stop talking about it! Yong explores how animals have different “sensory bubbles” and how those senses have evolved, and what it might feel like to experience the world in different ways. For example, an octopus “tastes” with its suckers, which means that it tastes everything it touches.

Favorite place to travel:
I love visiting National Parks – 24 and counting! My favorite so far was Yellowstone – it felt like being on another planet. Our Parks constantly delight me with the diversity of ecosystems right here in our own country. From the wet temperate rainforest of Olympic, full of life and sounds, to the barren silent salt flats of Death Valley, or the clear blue waters of Dry Tortugas, our National Parks are truly awe inspiring.

Raison d’etre:
Doing what I can to make the world a better place, one 2×4 at a time.

Favorite quote:
“Whoever you are … the world offers itself to your imagination” Mary Oliver

If I hadn’t gone into architecture, I might have pursued…
physics.

Favorite animal and why:
Otters! They look like they have a lot of fun.
