33 Bow Street is an historic, Queen Anne style Victorian building located in the heart of Union Square, Somerville consisting of 19 units of affordable residential units of various footages and layouts, and a single rambling commercial space at street level.
As part of a larger, multi-site renovation project, the Bow Street building will receive a deep energy retrofit that includes electrification, and exterior envelope restoration, allowing for a newly insulated exterior, new siding, and historically appropriate windows and commercial storefront. Exterior detailing and trim will be replicated and replaced to preserve the character of the building. Interior improvements include accessibility upgrades, new kitchens and bathrooms, flooring, and improvements to air quality through the introduction of energy recovery ventilation systems.
