Through multiple phases of occupied renovation, we guided Pine Street Inn through a complete redesign of their entry lobby, along with the replacement of the window system across the four-story masonry building.
At Yawkey House, we reimagined the entry and lobby to create a warm, welcoming, and dignified space for guests. Inspired by hospitality design principles, the new lobby offers a bright, inviting environment for over 115 guests served each night. This high-traffic space now features a streamlined security process, an updated reception desk, improved wayfinding, and designated meeting and waiting areas. Guests are also able to connect with staff who help link them to vital resources beyond emergency shelter.
Additionally, we designed a new window system for the oversized openings at this classic masonry building. The updated windows, featuring a contemporary pattern of fixed and operable units, have dramatically improved both the building’s energy efficiency and its natural daylighting.
