The Yawkey Housing Resource Center brings a new model for ending homelessness to Quincy.
Operated by Father Bill’s & MainSpring, with over 40 years of experience in supportive housing, the development combines emergency congregate shelter with long-term supportive housing in individual studio apartments. The site also features social services dedicated to long-term residents, short-term guests, and visitors just in need of day services or homelessness prevention support.
The building is divided into two wings; supportive housing is situated in the west wing, and functions much like any studio apartment building, except for its ground-floor connection to the east wing, which houses the shelter and support functions.
The east wing features a large, welcoming reception area, with warm, durable finishes, contemporary light fixtures and natural daylighting, and key graphics and colors to aid in wayfinding. Program components include a fully licensed clinic, office space for case management and administrative staff, amenities like laundry and showers, and a large dining room and multi-purpose space with a full commercial kitchen. The dining room is a bright and cheerful space with copious daylight from windows facing the private landscaped back yard.
